After highly successful seasons the former head coach of the men's and women's teams, Brenda Smith returns to the helm as head coach of the Lady Wolves' Tennis team in 2018.

Smith coached the Lady Wolves for nine years (1997-2005), the Wolves for three years (2013-2016), and was an assistant coach for one (2017) compiling an overall record of 155-45 including six consecutive trips to the NJCAA National Tournament. Her teams won 22 individual state championships, two team state championships, and had nine teams ranked nationally. Five of those teams were recognized as the top Academic Team of the year (1999, 2003, 2004, 2014, and 2015)  and five other teams were No. 2 in the nation academically. Eight players have eanred the NJCAA Pinnacle Award (4.0 GPA) and 17 were recognized academically by the NJCAA.

Smith was selected Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2002 and served as the president of the NJCAA Women’s Tennis Coaches Association for four years. She was inducted into the Cloud County Community College (KS) and Mississippi College's Sports Hall of Fame. 

She served as the Dean of Student Services from 2008-2017, and recently returned to the class room as an instructor and chairperson to the Heath and Physical Education Division, a role Smith held from 1996-2008.

Smith is a graduate of Cloud County Community College (KS) and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Mississippi College in Clinton. She and her husband, Steve, are the parents of two sons, Matt and Josh. They are active members of Clear Branch Baptist Church.
