Blake Smith

J. Blake Smith starts his second season as head coach of the Wolves Men’s tennis program in 2018. Blake was a member of the Wolfpack Men’s tennis team in both 2008 and 2009. In 2008 Blake was named to the NJCAA National Academic Team of the Year. The 2009 squad, with the help of Smith, won the MACJC State Championship. Smith’s sophomore performance earned him 2nd Team All-Region 23 honors. Blake has years of coaching experience as he has taught private lessons throughout the community for the past four years and served as the assistant Men’s coach this past season.
Smith led the Wolves to a breakout season in 2016-2017 that saw two players travel to Plano, Texas for the NJCAA National Championship. He coached the first ITA National Academic All-American in Sebastian Osorio, who finished the season ranked No. 8 in the nation.
Smith is a graduate of Loyd Star High School, Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Alcorn State University, and the University of Southern Mississippi. Smith earned his Bachelor degree in Nursing in 2011 from Alcorn and his Master's degree in Family Nurse Practitioner from USM in 2014. Blake is currently finishing his Doctoral degree in Nursing. Off the court, Blake is employed with King’s Daughters Medical Center and Hurst Review Services.
