Lady Wolves wrap up successful 2017 season in MACJC Tournament

PERKINSTON – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves finished fifth in the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament to wrap up the 2017 season after picking up six wins.

Co-Lin’s Ximena Daza advanced to the final round in No. 1 singles, but fell to Hinds’ Marianna Alvarez 6-2, 6-0. Daza rolled through the quarterfinals and semi finals after defeating Maegan Trexler of Northeast 6-0, 6-0 and Gulf Coast’s Paulina Estrada 6-2, 6-3.

Laura Vargas advanced to the quarterfinals at No. 2 after defeating Bailey Gillintine of ICC 6-3, 6-2, but fell to Gulf Coast’s Bianca Buie 6-0, 6-1.

Chantel Quarles lost in the quarterfinals at No. 3 singles to April Rudolph 6-3, 6-4.

At No. 4 singles, Susanna Ratcliff made it out of the first round with a victory over Kristina Taylor of Northeast 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, but lost in the quarters to Gulf Coast’s Jasmine Sartin 6-0, 6-0.

Bayli Battle fell at No. 5 singles in the opening round to Hinds’ Jordan Warren 6-4, 6-2.

Maddie Ogden rounded out Co-Lin’s singles players at No. 6. Ogden won the quarterfinals match over EC’s Emily Dykeman 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, but lost in the semis to Meridian’s Micah Gray 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles Vargas and Daza grabbed an early win over ICC 6-4, 6-1, but lost to Hinds’ Marianna Alvarez and Stefy Varon 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.

Ratcliff and Battle teamed up for No. 2 doubles for Co-Lin, but fell to Northwest’s Piper Johnson and Kim Crider 6-1, 3-6, 6-0.

Quarles and Ogden played No. 3 doubles for the Lady Wolves. The pair grabbed a win in the quarterfinals over Northwest 6-2, 6-3, but lost to Gulf Coast’s Sartin and Sarah McMillian in the semifinals 6-4, 6-1.
