Wolves finish final four matches 2-2

WESSON – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College men’s tennis team rolled passed Holmes, but fell to Meridian last week to wrap up the 2017 regular season. Both matches were “doubleheaders” as early season matches were both rained out. Co-Lin had victories over Holmes 9-0, 8-1, and dropped both matches to Meridian 8-1.

 

Sebastian Osorio and Juan Pablo Pinilla played No. 1 doubles for the Wolves in all four matches. The duo defeated Holmes’ Matthew Philley and Matthew Dubourg 8-1, 8-2. Osorio and Pinilla split with Meridian as the pair defeated Jason Pimenta and Will Swindoll 9-8 (7-4), and lost 8-6.

Tripp Case and Cory Alderman paired up at No. 2 doubles for Co-Lin. The pair defeated Holmes’ Meritt Blackwell and Eric Menefee 8-2, 8-2. The team fell in both matches against Meridian 8-5, 8-3.

Sebastian Harrell and Hayes Thompson played No. 3 doubles for the Wolves in one match against Holmes and defeated Hayden Switzer and Rylee Artman 8-3. Thompson and Cole Moak paired up for the second match with the Bulldogs and grabbed an 8-2 victory. Moak and Thompson lost both to Meridian’s Noah James and J.T. Champion 8-1, 8-2.

No. 2 Pinilla defeated Menefee 6-2, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0

No. 3 Thompson defeated Blackwell 6-4, 6-1, 6-2, 6-1

No. 4 Case defeated Dubourg 7-5, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-0

No. 5 Alderman defeated Switerzer 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0

No. 6 (Match one) Harrell defeated Artman 6-4, 6-2

No. 6 (Match two) Artman defeated Moak 6-2, 6-1

No. 2 Pinilla defeated Goncalves 6-3, 7-5 and Goncalves defeated Pinilla 7-5, 6-3
