SUMMIT - Co-Lin pitcher Sarah Anthony hurled a 1-hit shutout as the Co-Lin Lady Wolves took the opening game of a South Division double header at Southwest 3-1. The Lady Bears rallied to take the second game 1-0. Co-Lin (14-18, 5-11) will host Hinds on Tuesday for a South Division double header at 3 p.m.

Anthony, a sophomore from Live Oak, La., dominated the game only allowing a soft line drive single with 2 outs in the seventh inning. She struck out 5, walked 5 and hit one batter. The lone Southwest run scored was on their only hit of the game.

With one out in the second inning, Co-Lin drew 3 straight walks and Ashley McCaffery was hit by a pitch to record the RBI. Stevie Ann Wright reached on an error to drive in the second run. With the bases still loaded and 1 out, the Lady Wolves were unable to drive in another run.

Kaitlan Moak lead off the fifth Inning with a single and an error by the left fielder. Josie Porter’s bunt was thrown away, allowing Moak to score and Porter advanced to second, where she would be stranded.

"We left 9 runners stranded in the contest, most of them in scoring position with less than 2 out," said Co-Lin head coach Allen Kent. "Their pitcher deserves a good deal of credit, but we just weren't disciplined at the plate.
We played solid defense behind Sarah, as she stayed ahead in the count the majority of the game. It was an excellent outing for her."

At the plate, Anthony singled and walked to help her cause. McCaffery singled, walked and was hit by a pitch, while Lacy Duplantis slapped a single.

Anthony absorbed the loss for the Lady Wolves. She tossed a complete game 2-hitter, allowing an unearned run in the third inning.

Co-Lin had chances to score in several innings, but strikeouts took their toll when runners were in scoring position.

"Again, their pitcher got out of some holes," said Kent, "but we helped her out by not being disciplined enough at the plate."

Kaitlan Moak tripled to lead the offensive attack. Carrie Moak, Emily Smith, Josie Porter and Tammy Alford added a single apiece.

With 2 outs and a runner at third in the seventh, Bradi Davis dropped down a beautiful bunt single on the first base line to drive in Porter with the apparent tying run. But the home plate umpire called the ball hit Davis’ foot in the box.

"It was obviously a blown call, he (the umpire) literally took that run away from us," said Kent. "It wasn't even close, or questionable. It shouldn't have come down to that one play, as we couldn't come through under pressure when we had other opportunities."
