Bernard Goodrum joins Co-Lin football coaching staff

full wolf

April 21, 2017

WESSON – A Griffin, Ga. native, Bernard Goodrum looks to bring youth, energy, and ferociousness to the Wolves’ defense in 2017. The linebacker coach previously worked at Troy University as a graduate assistant. Prior to his time at Troy, Goodrum worked in the Griffin-Spalding County School System in Griffin, Ga. as a coach and teacher. Though young, Goodrum has four years of coaching experience.

“I see my youth as a positive for these young players, but I have experience at the DI level and at the high school level,” said Goodrum. “That kind of experience allows me to groom these guys from high school and prepare them for a four-year school, and it will definitely help me with the recruiting process because I have built so many relationships in Georgia.”

Goodrum is a 2012 graduate of Fort Valley State University where he received numerous awards on the gridiron including 2nd Team All-Conference and Senior All-American. After his time at Fort Valley Goodrum furthered his education at Troy University where he received his Master of Science in Sport Fitness and Management.

“It’s great to be here in my first full time coaching role,” said Goodrum. “When I saw the opening I jumped on the opportunity because Mississippi has the best JUCO [Junior College] football system in the nation, and I will coach some of the best players in the nation.”

Goodrum has taken the job in stride as the Wolves are already holding spring practices in preparation for the 2017 season.
