POPLARVILLE – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves used a strong to start to put Pearl River away early, bringing their South Division record to 5-1 on the season, and 14-3 overall. The Lady Wildcats drop to 2-4, and 5-9.

The Lady Wolves went on an 11-2 to start behind the strong play of sophomore Vintrice Briggs who finished the game with 14 points, 8 of which came in the first half. She was able to add 5 rebounds and 3 assists to her record during her 34 minutes of court time.

Co-Lin went into halftime leading 33-11 and the scoring didn’t stop when they returned to the court, stretching their lead to 22 points at 41-19 score just 2 minutes into the second half. From there the half belonged to sophomore guard Chanta Poole who used a perfect night from the charity stripe (5-of-5) to raise her point total to 13, while also snagging 4 rebounds.

Pearl River used to a strong efforts from sophomores Kalisha Washington, who lead the Lady Wildcats with 12 points and 34 minutes played, Lolecla Richardson who pulled in 6 rebounds, and Joy Grimsley who also snagged 6 rebounds, to pull with-in 13 points of Co-Lin with 1:20 left in the game but that was as close as it would get, with the Lady Wolves able to extend the lead back out to 18 points before the final buzzer.

The Lady Wolves next travel to Perkingston, on Thursday, to take on South Division rival Mississippi Gulf Coast who Co-Lin defeated earlier this year, 63-51, in Wesson. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. Listen live at www.colinathletics.com or WMJU 104.3 FM in Brookhaven.
