Wolfpack split with Southwest to win Coca-Cola/Powerade Challenge

SUMMIT – The Co-Lin Wolves split a doubleheader with the Southwest Mississippi Bears to claim the 12th annual Coca-Cola/Powerade Baseball Challenge. The Wolves took a 3-1 win the third and deciding game of the best-of-three series claim the title. The Bears rallied to take game one in 6-5 in 11 innings. Co-Lin claimed a 16-6 victory in game one on March 3 in Wesson. The Wolves (5-10) travel to Meridian for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 19, at 4 p.m. Listen live at www.colinathletics.com or on WMJU 104.3 FM in Brookhaven.

Co-Lin splits close series with Delgado

WESSON – The Co-Lin Wolves split a doubleheader with the Delgado Dolphins winning game one 5-3 and narrowly losing game two 9-8. Wolves pounds Southwest in Coca-Cola/Powerade Challenge

WESSON – The Co-Lin Wolves posted a nine run fourth inning on their way to a 16-6 victory over the Southwest Bears in game one of the best-of-three Coca-Cola/Powerade Baseball Challenge. Games two and three of the Challenge will be played Wednesday, March 16, in a divisional doubleheader matchup. The Wolves (3-8) will host the Delgado (LA) Dolphins for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 5, at Sullivan Field. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.

12th Annual Coca-Cola Baseball Challenge rescheduled for Wednesday

The 12th annual Coca-Cola Baseball Challenge between the Co-Lin Wolves and the Southwest Bears presented by Powerade has been rescheduled to Wednesday, March 2, due to impending rain. The best of three series begins with a single, nine-inning game at Sullivan Field on the Wesson Campus with the first pitch at 5 p.m. The game will be telecast live at www.colinathletics.com and on WMJU 104.3 FM in Brookhaven.

Co-Lin splits series with Lincoln Trail

WESSON – The bats were busy at Sullivan Field on Friday, after 34 total runs were scored by Co-Lin and Lincoln Trail College (IL) in the doubleheader. Co-Lin edged out the Statesmen in game one 10-9 thanks to a productive second inning. The Wolves fell 9-6 in the nightcap. The Wolves are back in action Tuesday, March 1, as Southwest travels to Wesson for game one of the Coca-Cola/Powerade Challenge. Wolves drop pair to Baton Rouge

WESSON – The season has started slowly for the Co-Lin Wolfpack baseball program as the team dropped a doubleheader to Baton Rouge Community Thursday night. Errors haunt the team as they posted seven in the two games. The Wolves are back in action today as they host Lincoln Trail in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. at Sullivan Field.

 NEW ORLEANS – Co-Lin got the first win of the season after a sixth inning push that brought in all five runs in the 5-3 victory. The Wolves fell in game two of the doubleheader 5-4 in extra innings. The Wolves are now 1-5 on the season and are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 24, as they take on Baton Rouge Community College at home. First pitch of game one begins at 3 p.m.

WESSON – Co-Lin head baseball coach Clay Smith hopes to build on the 15-27 record from the 2015 season with consistency off the mound and in the batter’s box. The 2016 squad is very athletic and has a nice balance of speed and power. A core group of returning sophomores, who each had individual success last season, will lead the Wolfpack in the 2016 campaign.

Seven Co-Lin baseball players garner postseason accolades

WESSON – Seven members of the Copiah-Lincoln baseball team have recently been bestowed with postseason honors for their play during the 2015 season. Sophomore outfielder Adrian Brown was named MACJC First Team All-State and also NJCAA All-Region 23. Shane Brown, Choc Hubbard, Austin Resser, Jeremy Moore, Cole Langdon, and Reed Taylor were all named MACJC Second Team All-State.

Co-Lin baseball camp set for June 15-18

WESSON – The Copiah-Lincoln Wolves baseball program will host a baseball camp June 15-18, from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. at Sullivan Field on the Wesson Campus. The camp is for players ages 6-12. Pre-registration is recommended and registration forms can be found here. Cost of the camp is $80 for pre-registered campers and $90 for walk-up registration. Campers should report to Sullivan Field at 8 a.m. on June 15.

Hubbard inks with William Carey

WESSON – Copiah-Lincoln outfielder Choc Hubbard has signed a scholarship with the William Carey Crusaders. Hubbard appeared in all 42 games for the Wolves as a right fielder or designated hitter. Hubbard led the team in triples (four), bases on balls (21), and reached after being hit by a pitch a team leading 10 times in 2015. Hubbard, a product of Mendenhall High School, finished with a .324 batting average, had 40 hits, and knocked in 33 RBIs.

Brown signs with William Carey

WESSON - Copiah-Lincoln centerfielder Adrian Brown has signed a scholarship with the William Carey University Crusaders.  Brown started in all 42 games for the Wolves and led the team with 170 plate appearances.  A graduate of McComb High School, Brown finished with a .318 batting averages and had 47 hits in 2015. He led the team in doubles (12), home runs (seven), and RBIs (44).  Brown tied for the team lead with 12 stolen bases and scored 33 runs.

WESSON – The Co-Lin Wolfpack will hold tryouts for the 2015-2016 baseball team on Saturday, May 9 at 2 p.m. on the Wesson Campus. Tryouts are for any 2015 graduates that have finished their current season and will take place on Sullivan Field. The tryout had originally been set for May 9, but has been moved as not to conflict with Mother’s Day.

WESSON – The Copiah-Lincoln Wolves closed out their season with a doubleheader versus the Southwest Bears on Monday night in Wesson. Co-Lin rode a complete game performance from freshman pitcher Cole Langdon to take an 8-4 win in game one. In game two the Bears rallied with a game winning run in the top of the seventh inning to capture a 10-9 win.

FULTON – Taking to the road for the final time in 2015, the Copiah-Lincoln Wolves made the long trip to Fulton on Sunday to take on the Itawamba Indians. Itawamba, fighting for a playoff spot in the final week of the season, silenced the Co-Lin bats in gaining a sweep.

WESSON – Hits were not in short supply on Wednesday as Copiah-Lincoln and Gulf Coast combined for 55 in their doubleheader at Sullivan Field. Co-Lin rallied from an early seven run deficit to take game one 19-14. In game two Co-Lin again fought back from an early hole, but could not hold off a late Gulf Coast charge as the Bulldogs took an 8-7 win.

GOODMAN – The Copiah-Lincoln Wolves split a division doubleheader in on Monday. The Bulldogs limited Co-Lin to four hits in a 7-0 Holmes victory in game one. In game two the Wolves bounced back behind another gutsy pitching performance from Shane Brown. The sophomore gave up two earned runs on seven hits in seven innings of action to lead Co-Lin to an 8-2 win.
