Otis Yelverton - Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Line Coach

A native of North Carolina who came to Copiah-Lincoln after coaching in California, Otis Yelverton has found a home in Wesson. Yelverton begins his fifth season as the defensive coordinator for the Wolfpack.

Yelverton came to Wesson after serving as the defensive coordinator at Contra Costa College, located in San Pablo, California. In his two seasons at Contra Costa, Yelverton led a defensive turn around that saw the Comets’ unit go from one of the worst in the California Community College Athletic Association, to being the second ranked defense in the CCCAA in 2012. The Comets finished the season at 8-3 and won the Bay Valley Conference Championship and their bowl game. The Live Breath Foundation Bowl for the first time in school history.

Prior to his time out west, Yelverton served as the athletic director and head football coach for Oak Ridge Military Academy in North Carolina, where he posted an undefeated 20-0 record during his two seasons at the helm.

Yelverton holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from North Carolina A&T State University and holds a master’s degree in sports management and Christian education. He is currently working towards a doctoral of education in sport management specializing in human resource management in sports at the United States Sports Academy.

Death, taxes, and Calvin Green coaching the defensive backs at Copiah-Lincoln, those are three things you can count on in this life. Green begins his 24th season as a member of the Wolfpack coaching staff and coaches the cornerbacks. In recent years he's tutored players who have signed with Ole Miss (Wesley Pendleton, Dehendret Collins), Alabama (DeQuan Menzie), Memphis (Arthur Maulet), and Mississippi State (Jasper O'Quinn). He’s coached a number of NJCAA All-Americans and future NFL players.  

Prior to coming to Co-Lin in January 1994, Green served as assistant defensive back coach at East Mississippi. Green also served as an assistant at Lawrence County High School.

Green graduated from Monticello High School where he was a three-year letterman as a defensive back. He attended Copiah-Lincoln Junior College as a member of Coach Ray Ishee’s 1985 State Champion and East Bowl Champion teams. In 1986, Green was chosen MACJC Most Valuable Defensive Back. He also received All-Region XXIII and All-State honors at defensive back and was selected to play in the MACJC All-Star Game.

He earned a B.S. degree in recreation from Alcorn State University. During his football career at Alcorn, Green earned letterman honors and in 1988 was a member of the “Nation’s Best Secondary.”

Green also serves as the recreation hall supervisor for the college. He was selected Co-Lin’s Outstanding Staff Member in 2009. Green and his wife, Falana, have two children, Farrod and Sabria. Farrod will be a freshman on the Mississippi State football team in 2015.


Jason Guthrie - Assistant Coach/Running Backs Coach

This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.With over 20 years of coaching experience, Jason Guthrie brings an abundance of knowledge to the Co-Lin coaching staff as he begins his second year at the helm of the Wolfpack backfield in 2017.

Prior to joining the Co-Lin staff, Jason coached championship quality teams at both the high school and university level. As the Offensive Coordinator, he helped lead Brentwood High (Brentwood, TN) to a 5-A state title in 2002. After just three years at the high school level, Jason became the Assistant and Offensive Coordinator for Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. During his 10-year tenure at Trinity, he helped lead the Tigers to five SCAC Conference Championships. Jason has spent the previous three years at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS and helped the Majors claim the SAA Conference Championship in 2013 as the Offensive Coordinator. Jason not only provides offensive expertise, but recruiting experience and connections to help bolster Co-Lin’s presence in the Southeast. Jason also has playing experience on the gridiron, as he was a wide receiver and tight end for is alma mater from 1992-1996.

Jason graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Science, History/Education and a minor in Psychology, and has a Master’s of Education, School Administration from Trinity University. Jason is joined in Wesson by his wife, Sarah. 


Micah Davis - Assistant Coach/Quarterbacks Coach

Micah Davis joins the Co-Lin coaching for his first year in 2017. The former Wolfpack quarterback is a 2008 Copiah-Lincoln graduate. 

Davis went on to play for the Delta State University Statesmen where he received numerous awards for his play. He was in the top three Harlon Hill Trophy finalist (NCAA DII Player of the Year), the National Football Foundation National Scholar Athlete/Finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association Top Male Division II Scholar-Athlete

 of the Year. Delta State was the 2010 NCAA Division II Runners-Up with Davis at quarterback.

After graduating from Delta State he continued his education at Arkansas State University where he received a Master of Science in Sport Administration.

The former standout has over five years coaching experience at the Division I level that includes stints with Western Kentucky University, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and his most recent at the University of Kansas where he coached quarterbacks and running backs.

Davis is married to the former Ashley McFarland. They are the parents of a daughter, Brooke.


Bernard Goodrum - Assistant Coach/Linebackers Coach

GoodrumA Griffin, Ga. native, Bernard Goodrum looks to bring youth, energy, and ferociousness to the Wolves’ defense in his first year on the Co-Lin coaching staff. The linebacker coach previously worked at Troy University as a graduate assistant. Prior to his time at Troy, Goodrum worked in the Griffin-Spalding County School System in Griffin, Ga. as a coach and teacher. Though young, Goodrum has four years of coaching experience.

Goodrum is a 2012 graduate of Fort Valley State University where he received numerous awards on the gridiron including 2nd Team All-Conference and Senior All-American. After his time at Fort Valley Goodrum furthered his education at Troy University where he received his Master of Science in Sport Fitness and Management.
