Meridian holds off Co-Lin's late rally

Jan. 16, 2014

MERIDIAN - Powered by double digit scoring from four starters, the Meridian Lady Eagles held off the Co-Lin Lady Wolves, 76-66, in basketball action Thursday night. The Lady Eagles (11-2, 3-1) scored the first two points of the game, fittingly, on a basket from Kristen Sampson. Sampson would finish with a game high 22 points. The Lady Wolves (7-6, 0-4) would be done in by a lack of offensive production and an abundance of turnovers. Co-Lin only had one starter score in double figures, MACJC Player of the Week Claresa Banks with 21 points.

Lady Wolves rally falls short

Jan.. 13, 2014

WESSON - A chaotic comeback from being down 18 points with 10 minutes remaining would fall short on Monday night in Mullen Gymnasium as the Copiah-Lincoln Lady Wolves (7-5, 0-3) dropped their rivalry game, 75-72, to the Southwest Lady Bears (11-1, 3-0). A free throw by Lady Bear Katrina Littlepage with 10:07 remaining in the game gave Southwest a 58-40 lead, their biggest of the night, Littlepage led all scorers with 26 points. A 20-9 run by Co-Lin over the next eight minutes would slice the lead down to 67-60 with two minutes remaining on the clock. The Lady Wolves would get no closer than within three points and the Lady Bears would hit their late-game free throws to preserve the win.
